Windfall Profits Tax Require a Windfall? Duh.
Michelle Malkin and others are pointing out that Sleek Barry has now deep-sixed the proposed windfall profits tax he proposed during the campaign to finance a $1000 “emergency energy rebate.”
As I had queried previously, just what part of the $2.00 — now more like $2.50 — a gallon drop in gasoline prices was the Prezelect planning to tax as a “windfall?”
Duh.
BTW, Michelle et. al.: the page containing the onetime windfall profits/emergency energy rebate pledge may have vanished, but the promise is still there for all to see on the Obiden campaign website.

Yeah, I don’t have a problem with him getting rid of the tax. I don’t think it made a heck of a lot of sense without a whole passel of *ugly* riders (like fixing profit margins, total gas price, etc). What’s annoying me is how it just sort of… disappeared…
On the up side, I’m sort of hopeful he’ll renege on all the other campaign promises I disliked. Who knows, maybe he’ll turn into a decent president simply by ignoring his bad promises.
