The Sarahcuda Bites Back
OK, I can’t resist. I know you’re all waiting to hear my response to the tidbits of the Sarah Palin interview with John Ziegler.
First of all, as you all know, I think that the entire Ziegler thesis — that Barack Obama got elected because the media’s slobbering love affair (to use Bernard Goldberg’s term) with him led to the American people being misinformed and misled — is all wet.
As I have previously written:

Obama got elected because he outspent, outorganized and outmaneuvered John McCain….
Obama got elected because he articulated a simple, straightforward and compelling message and agenda that made the case for why he should be President … and McCain and his team could not and did not….
Obama got elected because Commander Mac and his campaign were not quick enough on their feet to get around the younger man’s distortions and misrepresentations….
Obama got elected because McCain and his Keystone Kop team never got beyond the moose-hunting, pro-life “hockey mom” stage to complete the narrative about Sarah Palin….
In other words, Obama did a lot of things very right … even brilliantly … and McCain and his team did almost everything wrong, except the “celebrity” ads, the Palin pick and the convention.

Allow me to reiterate point #4 above … it wasn’t just that the media was after Sarah Palin … of course they were. But it was the galactical stupidity of the McCain team in handling the Governor that caused the real trouble.
That being said, there is a way to handle media mistreatment and a way not to handle media mistreatment. The way not to handle it is the way Ms. Palin has gone about it in the Ziegler interview… essentially by whining about it.
The right way to handle it was demonstrated back in 1988, surprisingly enough, by one George Herbert Walker Bush, who came loaded for bear in an interview with Dan Rather. The then-Veep’s peeps suspected that he was about to be Bushwhacked by the ultraliberal anchor … and planned some whacking in return. Chalk one up for the erstwhile Wimp.
Don’t tell me that the Sarahcuda — who has demonstrated some markswomanship skills rhetorically as well as with a rifle — couldn’t find a few chosen media targets to take out.
In the meantime, the kvetching has the unintended effect of elevating her opposition while, as Allahpundit at Hot Air points out, diminishing her.
